During Marlin Perkins’ stand, intellectual actions were taken by presenting education about animals on television. Perkins chose TV to communicate to others because he thought that television was a good idea to show other people in the U.S. the importance of conservation and why we should conserve animals all around the world.
The television audience learned from Perkins in a broad way about wild animals and their hardships in the wild ("Return of a Television Legend"). He also wanted his audience to know that we needed to help the wild animals, even if they didn’t live in the United States (Wild Kingdom). He said, “I knew that television was a radio you could see” ("Marlin Perkins"). He knew that if he could show people the animals, rather than just tell about the need to conserve wild animals, it would influence them to take stands for animal conservation themselves ("Marlin Perkins"). He believed that "knowledge was the biggest prize man could seek in the Wild Kingdom" ("Marlin Perkins Closing"). |

And now you share your love and information on all animal life thru the wonderful medium of television." - Justin Brown in a letter to Marlin Perkins |
